17. Zwiebelmarkt und Lichterfest

This book is about various German traditions, including the 'Zwiebelmarkt' (Onion Market).
There are a few nice pictures and a little drawing depicting onions.

"In GDR times, up to 120,000 visitors from all parts of the republic came to the city - although the festival had been shortened to one day. 32,000 onion panicles were sold in 1970, for example - 100 tonnes of peel real oynoun Sometimes the coveted panicles were sold out early in the morning.
