12. Kamper ui

A "Kamper ui" is a name for mockery and teasing stories in which the pretensions as well as stupidity of the inhabitants and especially the administrators of certain places are ridiculed by the surroundings.

An example of a story like this:
A migratory tramp convinces a peasant and his wife that he can make soup from just onion, water and salt.
The peasants are intrigued and watch intently as the tramp pours his onion, water and salt into the pan but fail to notice that in the meantime a considerable amount of their stock also disappears into the pan "for flavour".

It is a synonym for the similar story Wise Men of Gotham.
